SIL FOOD is an additive-curing one-to-one copying silicone. Thanks to its low viscosity, it has good mechanical properties and is ideal for the production of detailed silicone moulds with ultra-precise dimensions.
SIL FOOD has a very high tensile strength and is very flexible. Therefore, self-made creations made from SilFood can be easily removed from the mould, especially when it comes to incisions. This silicone does not require any lubricants and, thanks to the cross-linking with a platinum catalyst added in component A, it hardens without shrinkage and is odourless.
It is easy to mix due to its 1:1 mixing ratio and can be poured over several times with almost any casting compound.
It is also resistant to temperatures up to 200°C.
SIL FOOD is particularly suitable for all forms of industrial, craft and hobby sectors.
This silicone is physiologically harmless (can be used on the skin) and is ideal for food use as it meets BfR and FDA requirements.
Processing instructions:
Place the cleaned model in a suitable mould or container. Then mix SIL FOOD components A and B at room temperature in a ratio of 1:1 for about 1 minute until a uniform, streak-free colour is obtained. Then pour the silicone in a thin stream evenly into the same area until the entire model is coated. See table for application times. When pouring silicone on silicone or for special materials, a release agent (Sil Food TMV) is required. At an ambient temperature of 23°C on average, the model can be removed after the curing time (see table). The curing time can be shortened by adding heat (e.g. at 50°C). Do not pour into the silicone mould before 20 minutes have elapsed.
Note. If the temperature of the material or the room is above 23°C, the processing time will be significantly reduced.
Warning: some model materials contain platinum inhibitors. Some platinum inhibitors contain platinum inhibitors, which prevent the silicone from hardening on the contact surface with the model.
Recommendation: clean the model well and test with a small amount of material before pouring, if necessary isolate the model with Sil Food TMV.
SIL FOOD for the food class:
The silicone mould must be degassed or heated before use with food. Place the mould in a 200°C oven for about 4 hours.
